Matariki

What is Matariki? Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars. It rises in midwinter and for many Māori, Matariki is also known as the maori new year.

Yesterday the 7th of July, some of my classmates and I made Silhouettes.

First we got white paper and dye from room 11 then we started looking up silhouettes to get some ideas from it. It took very long to complete, it took up 3 sessions, and once we completed we set it out to dry, and the results were this.

Technology - Science

Today at Tech we had a relever named Mrs Wong, she was teaching us names of Basic Laboratory Equipment. She told us to do was to come up and pick a tool and say its name and what its used for.                              after that we had to create a document and write down all the names of the Laboratory Equipment  and show a picture of what it looks like.

MY DREAM HOLIDAY

My dream holiday would have been if I went to Samoa or Rarotonga.

The reason why I would like to go to Samoa is because I would like to see my mum's family and especially her grandma which is my great grandma, and I would like to see what it is like over there.

And the reason why I would like to go to Rarotonga is because I really want to see my grandpa, sadly my grandpa passed away a really long time ago, and i also want to see what it looks like.

This  would be my Dream holiday.

Water safety lesson with Whaia Moe

Today we had a lesson with Whaia Moe. The lesson was all about how we should be safe around water or when we are in the water.

The first thing we did was to talk about hazard, risks and deprivation.after that Whaia Moe told us a true story about a old man.

She told us that the old man was walking and he sliped, when he sliped he hit his head and felt really Unconscious, his head also went into a small puddle And he started to drown.

After the that story she told us to lye down and we had to put one hand up and say ''help".

When that was over we had sit back up and listen to another story, this time the story was about 3 teenage boys, so she said one of the boys asked his 2 friends if they wanted to play who can hold their breath in the longest, when 2 of the boys came up they decided to hold their friend down, but after that the boy ended up in hospital and it was the end for him.

after we heard about it we wern't even laughing about it, it sounded really sad.

Then we started talking about currents and people drowning

The lesson had ended and we all said bye to Whaia Moe.
